In 2012, I joined the medical and pastoral team of Kimoyo Ltd in The Upper East Region of Ghana. Kimoyo Ltd is a small scale NGO out of Roanoke, Virginia that has created enormous life changing programs in Ghana as well as in Roanoke and is an inspiring example of what a dedicated non-profit can accomplish on a modest operating budget. I spent ten days with the team on the first trip, photographing and filming Kimoyo Ltd.’s newly built medical center, an after school program for at risk teenage girls and a variety of micro financing programs that helped women start small businesses. I returned to the Upper East in 2019 and spent two months recording the progress of the programs.

Recording the stories about such important programs educates people about the powerful work that even a small Non-profit can accomplish and reassures donors that their contributions are going directly to the programs and are making an impact.
